Orphaned Land have just announced that they will play as support for Metallica
at their show in Israel on the 22nd of May 2010 at the Ramat Gan stadium.

New names on our fortnightly update:

Legendary Florida death metallers OBITUARY have been confirmed for Brutal Assault Festival 2010. One of the pioneering bands of the death metal genre will present their actual album „Darkest Day“.
Next confirmed is mathcore/sludge band GAZA (usa).
One of the greatest genre-defining hardcore bands of all time, AGNOSTIC FRONT , have been confirmed for Brutal Assault Festival 2010! AGNOSTIC FRONT has changed the face of music throughout its more than 30 years long career, big respect!
Next confirmed are Swedish black metallers WATAIN.

Alter Bridge have finished recording their third album, although no release date has been set.
The band say: “We are pleased to inform you that the recording of our third album has been completed. It was an amazing journey and we believe that the songs that we have created are our most inspired and dynamic work to date.

“The next step in the process will be mixing, which will begin in mid-April, in New York. The mixing will probably take a few weeks and once that is finished, we will begin the difficult task of deciding which songs will make the album. The goal is to release the album in September, before our planned October tour in Europe that will start in the UK.”
Vocalist Myles Kennedy is, of course, committed to touring as part of Slash’s band.

Norway’s 1349’s upcoming fifth full length, “Demonoir,” which will be released by Indie Recordings throughout Europe on April 26, and by Prosthetic Records in North America the following day, was recorded at Studio Nyhagen, deep in the woods in Norway with Tom Gabriel Warrior (Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Triptykon), who showed the greatest respect for the task and played a key role as motivator and catalyst. His technical role of the recording was that of a co-producer, but far more important was his presence and understanding of what a challenging project “Demonoir” was.

Ravn Comments: ”In hindsight, it is our belief that Tom was the missing piece of the puzzle, adding that element of heritage we needed. He represented the direct link to the Creators! We also need to mention three other contributors; Ronnie leTekrö – one of the most acclaimed guitarists on the globe, wrenched his soul inside out as he recorded one of the leads for “Psalm 7:77″; a truly breathtaking experience. We had some excellent, wicked grand piano play carried out by Canadian pianist Tony Caputo. And then there was Thorbjørn Benjaminsen of Hornorkesteret that recorded some spine chilling themes with his stringed reindeer horns, adding a touch of natural grimness to the electric inferno.
Check out the brand new design on 1349`s Myspace profile. It looks grimmer than ever before:

“The music on “Reptilian” is more in your face and direct than before so we chose this cover and the title to emphasise that directness as well as focusing even more on the fantasy element in the band. This beast of an album is staring at you and it’s going straight for your throat!” – Obsidian C. / Keep Of Kalessin

One always says that you can't rush greatness or perfection, and this couldn't be more true in the case of metal titans NEVERMORE, who last released the highly acclaimed "This Godless Endeavor" in 2005. The Seattle quartet have triumphantly returned with the much anticipated new full-length release,
"The Obsidian Conspiracy", which is what could be their most impressive offering of their illustrious decade plus, heralded career.

Legendary Danish hard rock/prog metal band Royal Hunt have signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the European release of their new album ‘X’. After selling 1.5 million albums and touring the world numerous times, the band’s still going strong, with André Andersen, keyboardist and main composer since day one, heading back to the roots of Rock with a brand new, astonishing 70´s inspired album.

Here’s how Andersen himself commented the event: “This album came out of our love for the 70´s music (tagged as Classic Rock nowadays) – from Kansas, Genesis and ELP to Uriah Heep and Deep Purple - music which was/is very adventurous while just a tad naïve at the same time (as some might say). We all are notoriously resistant to categorize it in any way, form or shape, but (if hard pressed) would go as far as saying that it’s definitely much more hard rock than metal and if by ‘progressive’ you might mean some odd time signatures here and there as well as random key changes – sure, there’re tons of them here… as well as really basic, simple stuff – so go figure.” The album will be released in June 2010 and “If you’re into pre-MTV, pre-computer/digital but pure quality rock – this thing’s been tailor made for you!”
