English:

Already since 1995, Norwegian Helheim releases inventive Viking metal albums on regular base, so that we can announce album number nine at the beginning of 2017. If their previous album ‘raunijaR’ had the nearest approach and continued where predecessor ‘Asgards Fall’ ended, then they present the new album as a logical sequel of ‘Heiðindómr Ok Mótgangr’ (2011). On all four albums we can hear horns and timpani, while the raucous black metal happens to be relished with genre-strange sounds. They build up an ice-cold yet melancholic vibe, which can mainly be heard in the clean vocals. These are solemn and serene, but in ‘Synir Af Heidindomr’ rather proclaiming.

Founding members V’gandr and H’grimnir come up with Norwegian lyrics, as always. This time about the need to include the values of Norse heritage into modern life and the major importance of runes. The band inserts fervert accelerations, but several songs have a mid-paced drawling tinge. The guitar solos (based on classic heavy metal) of Reichborn (ex-Syrach) are the icing on the cake and they always bring in magical melodious emotions. Guest vocals of William Hut, Morten Egeland, Pehr Skjoldhammer (Alfahanne), Bjornar E. Nilsen (also the producer at the Conclave & Earshot-studio in Bergen) and Ottorpedo make a stunner (once again) of ‘landawarijaR’, one we enjoy to play at maximum volume here. Norwegian top notch quality!

Nederlands:

Noorse topkwaliteit!
